Race 09/12 – Silver Springs

The Race Report, by Les White.

It was the inaugural race at Silver Springs today with light winds and sunshine. Raver Bellow of RD Racing set an early fast time in qualifying, only to be bettered by Motorato Ware of OMG Magazine late in the session. Mara Kohl of House of Kats was the only other rider to break a 23 in qualifying. Thorn Blackflag of the Red Wings, Bike Racer of Stilman Motors and Maczter Oddfellow of RefleX Racing filled out the main grid.

The race was all Motorato Ware, as she quicky got into a rhythm of smooth, clean laps working her way to lapping the field. Raver Bellow was a favorite at his home track, however a first lap crash at the hairpin of death took him out of contention for the win early. He quickly remounted to rejoin the race. Thorn was looking good for second spot early, until Maczter got by to run a very consistent pace to take second. Raver was able to work his way back up the field with his damaged bike to take third spot on the podium. Thorn finished fourth overall. Bike Racer finished fifth after being forced off the road a couple times. He is currently sedated and on his way to hospital. Mara brought a smoking bike home for sixth place over all.

In the middle race, Yamaha Harley (no relation), subbing on the Stilman Motors team, looked good for the win after some controversial passes until a lap 8 crash cost him the lead. Matt Kraken was right behind him and rode clean and tidy for the win, with Gianluca drafting close behind in second.

Dena Dana got the White’s Bike team over the line first to take the win in an action packed 3rd race.

The track performed great, leaving everyone smiling at the end, though many riders will require some series medical attention. With today’s modern medical developments and pure force of will, we expect all the riders back as we head into the final chase for points.
